The Nelum Pokuna (Lotus Pond) Theatre

The Nelum Pokuna (Lotus Pond) – Mahinda Rajapakse Theatre is a fully equipped performance centre, meant for large scale theatrical productions. The theatre consists of two venues for performance, which includes the main auditorium and an open air amphitheater.
As this architectural masterpiece is situated in the heart of the Colombo city, it facilitates easy access for both local and foreign producers. The Theatre is also surrounded by several five Star Hotels. Also there are several commercial establishments, like ODEL, the Dutch Hospital Shopping Precinct etc; nearby.
The ease of access and the other facilities in the area attract many foreign artistes and producers to host their productions at the Theatre. Hence, the Nelum Pokuna Mahinda Rajapaska Theatre becomes a solid body for bringing in foreign investment to the economy and will play a vital role in promoting tourism in the Sri Lanka.

Sri Lankan Elephant

The Sri Lankan Elephant (Elephas maximus maximus) is one of three recognized subspecies of the Asian Elephant, and native to Sri Lanka. Since 1986, Elephas maximus has been listed as endangered by IUCN as the population has declined by at least 50% over the last three generations, estimated to be 60–75 years. The species is pre-eminently threatened by habitat loss, degradation and fragmentation.
Elephas maximus maximus is the type species of the Asian elephant, first described by Carl Linnaeus under the binominal Elephas maximus in 1758
The Sri Lankan elephant population is now largely restricted to a few National Parks and Nature Reserves. Udawalawe National Park, Yala National Park, Wilpattu National Park and Minneriya National Park are prime locations for spotting elephants.

Walk to Down South

Galle (Sinhala: ගාල්ල;Tamil: காலி) is a city situated on the southwestern tip of Sri Lanka, 119 km from Colombo. Galle is the capital city of Southern Province of Sri Lanka and it lies in Galle District.
Galle is the best example of a fortified city built by Europeans in south and southeast Asia, showing the interaction between European architectural styles and south Asian traditions. The Galle fort is a world heritage site and the largest remaining fortress in Asia built by European occupiers. Other prominent landmarks in Galle include the natural harbor, the National Maritime Museum, St. Mary's Cathedral founded by Jesuit priests, one of the main Shiva temples on the island, and Amangalla the historic luxury hotel.
